Howdy Sea Aggies,

AHA had an awesome time volunteering at Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation in Kendalia TX, and visiting Sea World this weekend! We performed some tough work including cleaning a freezer and food racks (covered in I don't even know what), picking up goose feathers, recycling card board, cleaning their facilities such as the laundry room and animal hospital, as well as bailing hay.

Sunday we visited Sea World and had a behind the scenes tour of Whale and Dolphin Stadium, and Zoological Support. We also got to speak with Shawn Conner, a trainer at Sea Lion Stadium about furthering our careers in animal husbandry/training, and learned so much as we watched the trainers perform training sessions with the pinnipeds. Oh and did I mention that we got to touch a walrus!

A BIG thank you to everyone who participated in the trip! Have a great week and good luck on your exams!

(if you have any photo's from the weekend you can e-mail them to us or post them on this page and the "like" page Animal Husbandry Association of tamug)

Thanks and Gig'em

Howdy everyone!

This weekend Animal Husbandry Association took a trip down to Corpus Christy to volunteer at the Texas State Aquarium! We had an amazing time filled with tons of adventures, including a blown out tire, a man with a half pony, a sand storm, U-turns (caused by corn nuts), COWS!, and s’more s’mores.

More importantly we made great friendships, gained life and career experience, and got to pet an Anteater! A big thank you to everyone who participated for being so professional and making the trip AWESOME!

Cheers!

I just want to thank everyone who came out to Marsh Mania today! We had an awesome time restoring Moses Bayou by planting Spartina alterniflora, (scientific nomenclature for the day) preventing errosion and creating an ecosystem. Currently the area we were restoring has lost 10 feet of coastline in 2 years! Hope everyone has a great weekend!
