Adelphi University offers both undergraduate and graduate studies in Exercise Science. These programs both provide students with a wide variety of opportunities to expand their knowledge and get involved with the program. This program is designed for students interested in all aspects of human movement. The undergraduate Exercise Science track prepares students for careers in strength and conditio

ning, exercise leadership, and personal training, among others. Many students continue on to graduate studies in exercise science. Courses include learning objectives for the American College of Sports Medicine’s Health Fitness Specialist certification. The Pre-Physical Therapy track is for students who are interested in applying exercise science to careers including, but not limited to, physical therapy, physician assistant, nutrition, and nursing. This program is designed so the student may fulfill prerequisite courses necessary for application to professional school programs, while studying exercise science. The graduate program is designed to prepare students to work with a wide variety of populations including high level and recreational athletes as well as people who are diagnosed with cardiovascular, pulmonary, neurological, orthopedic and metabolic problems. Graduates of the Exercise Science Program go on to careers in Clinical Exercise Physiology, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Personal Training and Strength and Conditioning. Some pursue doctoral degrees in Allied Health, Medical School, and Exercise Physiology.
