🖤💚🩷 FEED THE MOVEMENT: SUPPORTING BLACK BUSINESS ONE MEAL AT A TIME! 🩷💚🖤
As part of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Kappa Iota Omega Chapter Black Dollar Days Campaign, several members of our Spring 2022 Initiates came together on Friday, June 5th to support a local Black-owned business during our first weekly spotlight, "Feed the Movement."

🍽️ Meet & Bread – Rocky Mount, NC 🍽️

From the moment we arrived, the experience was exceptional. The food was absolutely delicious, the service was prompt and professional, and the atmosphere created the perfect setting for fellowship, laughter, and sisterhood.

💚 Collectively, we contributed over $200 to a Black-owned business, helping strengthen local economic growth and entrepreneurship within our community.

Supporting Black-owned businesses is about more than making a purchase—it's about investing in our communities, building economic wealth, and celebrating the entrepreneurs who help our neighborhoods thrive.

Today, we celebrate and honor mothers and all positive female role models whose love, strength, wisdom, and nurturing spirit help shape families, communities, and future generations.

A mother’s love is often the foundation of the home — offering encouragement during difficult times, celebrating accomplishments big and small, and teaching the values of compassion, resilience, faith, and service.

Whether by birth, mentorship, guidance, or unwavering support, the impact of a caring woman can leave a lasting imprint on a family for generations to come.

Theme: Being the Change We Want to See

There’s something powerful that happens when purpose meets action—and our youth participants showed us exactly what that looks like. 💗💚

Through a youth-led community service project, these young leaders stepped forward to use their time, talents, and voices to make a meaningful impact. With creativity and compassion, they designed and created thoughtful craft items to share with local community members—spreading kindness, encouragement, and awareness.
In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, this project was more than an activity—it was a movement toward cultivating a healthy mindset, uplifting others, and reminding our community that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a lasting difference.

🌿 By serving others, they are shaping a brighter, more compassionate world.

🌸 By leading with purpose, they are becoming the change we all wish to see.
