Today, we proudly celebrated our Hobart baseball seniors, who yesterday were competing and unable to attend the official Commencement exercises. ⚾️🎓

What a season and what a legacy! This remarkable class helped lead Hobart baseball to a program-record 32 wins and its first NCAA Division III Tournament appearance since 1992. Under the leadership of Head Coach Brad Cook and Assistant Coaches Vincent Redmond, Ed Redmond and Nick Serce — honored as Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year — the Statesmen reached the national stage and made history.

🏆 Teck Nash — Liberty League Pitcher of the Year
🏆 Jack O’Neil — Rookie of the Year
🏆 Five All-League honorees
🏆 16 Liberty League All-Academic selections

Most importantly, these seniors helped rebuild and elevate Hobart baseball, leaving behind a standard of excellence that will endure long after this season. We are proud of all you have accomplished on the field, in the classroom and as members of the HWS community.

Carnegie Corporation President Dame Louise Richardson, a prominent scholar of foreign policy and the first woman to lead Oxford University, delivered the 2026 Commencement Address, reflecting on the importance of community for finding purpose and solving complex world problems.

“We achieve nothing alone. It doesn’t matter if you want to make a book or a building, a new polymer or a new digital platform, you are going to have to find those other people who will want to do it with you. The students and educators of this college recognize that collaboration, giving and creating opportunities for others is the basis of the good society and the well-lived life,” she said.

HWS awarded Dame Richardson an honorary degree and the Elizabeth Blackwell Award for her distinguished career and service to humanity.
