Some histories are best understood together.

Last night, members of the Gettysburg College, Borough of Gettysburg, and broader Adams County communities came together for Gettysburg College and Community: A Shared History. 🧡💙

The conversation explored the longstanding connections between campus and community, including local history, archaeology, oral histories, student research, and the ways Gettysburg College and the surrounding area have shaped one another across generations.

Presented in connection with America250PA, the event offered a distinctly local lens on the nation’s anniversary and on a relationship that continues well beyond the edges of campus.

As 100 Nights of Taps comes to a close this Labor Day, we’re looking back on a meaningful moment from this summer. 🎺🇺🇸

Egan Torres ’30 had the honor of performing as part of Gettysburg’s 100 Nights of Taps at Gettysburg National Cemetery on July 28.

The evening also came with some Orange and Blue support. Nancy Cook ’75 had met Egan and his family at the July 27 Welcome Gathering and attended his Taps ceremony the following evening to cheer him on.

A special connection between two generations of Gettysburgians during a tradition centered on remembrance.
