Join us this Friday, September 11th, at 8:00pm in Paul Recital Hall for a concert from Duo Mantar! This concert is free and open to the public, funded by the Sunderman Chamber Music Foundation. Duo Mantar brings together two internationally acclaimed virtuosos: American classical guitarist Adam Levin and Israeli mandolinist Jacob Reuven. Formed in the fall of 2017, the duo is highly praised by critics for their “visceral and imaginative” artistry and exceptional emotional depth. United by a shared passion for Israeli music, Jewish musical traditions, and the expansion of the mandolin–guitar repertoire through bold commissioning and innovative arrangements. Duo Mantar has toured extensively across the United States, Canada, Israel, and Spain, with upcoming tours in France and Italy.

Franz Lehár’s beloved operetta The Merry Widow premiered in 1905 and remains as timely as ever. Set in glamorous 1920s Paris, the story follows the wealthy widow Hanna Glawari and the roguish Count Danilo Danilovitch - former lovers reunited amid a scheme to save Hanna’s homeland of Pontevedro from financial ruin. As sparks fly and secrets unfold, wit and stubbornness collide. Filled with lively dance and memorable melodies, this delightful production is sure to leave your heart light and your toes tapping.

New World celebrates 20 years of the Sunderman Conservatory of Music with a program full of energy, color, and excitement. Join us tonight, Friday, April 17 at 8:00 p.m. at the Majestic Theater for an evening that brings powerful music to life.

Led by César Leal, the concert features vibrant dances by Antonín Dvořák and Alexander Borodin, alongside Jonathan Russell’s Bass Clarinet Concerto, performed by concerto competition winner James Humphrey.
