To my fellow believers and fi****ms owners. One last plea to you to reconsider your reticence to vote in such a critical election. Stats show that 25% of Christians will not vote and 22% of fi****ms owners. The fate of your and our 1A & 2A rights ride on our victory November 5. The fate of this election cannot be left to fate. YOU ARE CRITICAL TO GETTING YOUR RIGHTS ACROSS THE FINISH LINE. Please reconsider your decision and exercise your All-American right to cast a ballot to influence both your rights to worship as you wish and protect yourself and yours with a weapon.

Friends, today in the Gospel. Mark 10:46-52. passage, we see Jesus’ mercy toward the blind man as a hallmark of his ministry. Jesus comes as healer, savior, inaugurator of the kingdom. He is the embodiment of hope. Jesus wants to connect human suffering to the very source of life and health. The energy of God pours through him to the needy.

Now, I realize a question may be forming in your mind: “Well, why doesn’t he simply cure everyone then?” The answer is obviously wrapped up in the mystery of God’s will, but the important point is this: Jesus is healer in many senses, but ultimately in the sense that he heals us from sin and death, not only physical maladies. What appears historically in Jesus is an eschatological anticipation, a hint and foreshadowing of what is coming in God’s time and in his everlasting kingdom.

Friends, in today’s Gospel, Mark 10:35-45, James and John ask Jesus to place them in high places in his kingdom. They are asking for two of the classic four substitutes for God: wealth, pleasure, power, and honor, specifically for the last two. Power is not, in itself, a bad thing. And the same is true of honor. Thomas Aquinas said that honor is the flag of virtue. It’s a way of signaling to others something that’s worth noticing.

So, what’s the problem? The problem is that they are asking for these two things in the wrong spirit. The ego will want to use power, not for God’s purposes or in service of truth, beauty, and goodness, but for its own aggrandizement and defense. When honor is sought for its own sake or in order to puff up the ego, it becomes dangerous as well.

So, what’s the way out? “Whoever wishes to be great among you will be your servant; whoever wishes to be first among you will be the slave of all.” When you serve others, when you become t
