Major congrats to Writing Arts graduating senior Adam Buckley, winner of the 2026 Medallion Award for Excellence in Writing Arts! Adam was recognized by faculty for his outstanding leadership, coursework, and promise as a writer and professional. We celebrated Adam at last night’s Denise Gess Literary Awards ceremony where he also won second place for fiction and third place for poetry in our undergrad categories. We’re so proud of you, Adam!

Join us TOMORROW from 6:00 to 8:00pm in celebrating the literary achievements of Rowan students.

The celebration will be held in the Chamberlain Student Center in room G54A.

This event is open to all. First-place winners will read excerpts from their work, and all winners will be honored! 📝🏆

Congrats to our inaugural Writing Arts Senior of Distinction, Samantha Szumloz! This award recognizes a graduating senior for their excellent literary citizenship. In addition to all her writing, editing, and service contributions to our local literary communities, Sam is the founder of the lit mag Art-emis, which features the writing of BIPOC and LGBTQ+ authors. We celebrated Sam and others last night at the Ric Edelman College’s Seniors of Distinction banquet. Sam was introduced by the wonderful Prof. Megan Atwood. 🎉

6th Annual Corann Okorodudu Lecture Series ⭐️

This event will take place on April 15th at 3:30 PM in James Hall, 3114! This year’s speaker is Dr. Raina J. León, poet, scholar, and current Poet Laureate of Philadelphia.

“In this interactive talk, León will explore ways of reclaiming archives and shared histories through poetry and storytelling. The conversation will consider how creativity, community, and artistic expression can challenge erasure and sustain collective memory and imagination.”
