Their love story: “Surrounded by Idiots” got hella lost at outdoor orientation but was saved by “The Natural Navigator,” a super chill granola babe. They totally vibe over getting away from people, but “Surrounded by Idiots” eventually gets “The Natural Navigator” into the human world and they are endgame.

Want to join in the matchmaking fun for our books this summer? Head over to our 3rd floor glass display to create a love story for a pair of lonely books and then visit the 3rd floor Reference desk to collect a prize. We eagerly await your love story creations!

Take a road trip with the COD Library this summer!

Students, faculty, staff, and district residents are encouraged to participate in our summer reading challenge starting June 1. Grab a road map from any service desk in the Library and mark off a road segment for every day you read or complete an activity.

Visit various landmarks along the way, including the Statue of Liberty and the Grand Canyon, in order to collect prizes at the Reference desk. When you complete the road trip, you will be entered into a grand prize drawing!

The 8th Annual College of DuPage Library Student Research Symposium took place on Monday, May 11. It was a wonderful evening of COD student presentations as they shared their research projects from the academic year.

Thank you to the students who presented in this year’s Symposium, and a big congratulations to the award winners:

• First place: Eddie Contreras, A Three-Criteria Framework for U.S. Immigration Reform: Humane Treatment, Resource Reallocation, and Proportional Fallback.
• Second place: Taryn Prater, When Healing Becomes Horror: Medical Malpractice and Institutional Fear.
• Third place: Ana Paula Andrada, Shaped by the Feed: Big Data, Identity, and Power.
• Original Research Award: Tim Gaumer, A Prehistoric Presentation of Osteoarthritis (degenerative joint disease) in the Marine Reptile Tylosaurus.

Honorable Mentions:
• Tim Gaumer, Alzheimer’s Disease as a Systems Problem.
• Abigail Hendrickson, Ramen: A History of the Globally Loved Delicacy.
• Abdul-Rahman Kassak, BDNF Signaling Dysfunction in College-Aged Males: MAPK/ERK Contributions to Mood, Cognition, and Motivation.

Thank you to these beautiful dogs for visiting the library to help relax our students during finals! Also a special thank you to the counseling services at COD for this collaboration during mental health awareness week. Good luck to everyone on their finals!

COD Librarian Nessa Vahedian Khezerlou, Megan Flaherty, and Becky Reece presented at and attended the 24th annual last week! Vahedian Khezerlou presented “This Presentation is Banned: Resistance-Themed Engagement with the ACRL Information Literacy Framework for Banned Books Week” and Flaherty and Reece presented “The Work of Equity: Library Resources and Strategies to Support and Empower English Language Learners.”
