Every COD student has their "why."

Why they've changed careers mid-life.

Why they are the first of their family to go to college.

Why they need a new begining.

Why they want to be a teacher, a dental hygienist, or a fashion designer.

We love when those "why's" are displayed loud and proud on graduation caps.

Congrats again to the class of 2026, and thank you to every Foundation donor who helped hundreds of COD students finish what they started!

Congrats to 2026 Outstanding Graduate Angel Sanchez! Each year, a committee of faculty, staff, and administrators chooses two Outstanding Graduates, sponsored by the Foundation.

His advice for any adult fearful of college: “Do it scared,” he said. “Starting over is not failure; it shows courage.”

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend. It's a moment to reflect on the cost of freedom and the service members who paid it.

Many veterans from our community have walked through COD's halls—some before deployment, others after coming home, all carrying a sense of duty that extends beyond uniform. We're proud to support veteran students through scholarships, resources, and a commitment to making education accessible to all.

Today, we honor the fallen. And every day, we work to ensure their sacrifice means something.

In honor of today, enjoy this great update from College of DuPage - COD Natural Areas!

I am SUPER excited to report that we believe we have an endangered Black-crowned Night Heron (Nycticorax nycticorax) back and nesting at COD. We've seen this species here in the past but it's been a while since we had one nesting. I was out bird surveying this morning, came around a corner and we both spooked each other causing it to accidentally fly towards me before flying off. It was about 10 feet from me above a wetland area that we have been actively restoring since I arrived to COD. I was shocked and excited and it took me a minute to grab my camera and capture it flying off with nesting material in its talons. https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/361700005
