This is your sign to talk to someone if you are struggling with your mental health. πŸ’š

Throughout the month of May, our Counseling Services department raised awareness about the importance of mental health. In the WLC Atrium, they hosted an awareness table with resources, stickers, and encouragement, along with a campus banner promoting mental health awareness.

πŸ’š Our commitment continues beyond this month. We encourage ongoing conversations about mental health and taking time to care for yourself and others.

🌿 Join us for the soft launch of our Talk Tuesdays sessions on Tuesday, June 2, from 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. as we introduce our new Wellness Center. Enjoy light refreshments, games, and a welcoming space to connect and unwind.

If you are a student in need of clinical services, please visit our Counseling Services department on the first floor of the Wayne Learning Center or contact:

Earlier this spring, students in the Principles of Marketing and Small Business Management classes completed a semester-long small business simulation, putting their classroom knowledge into action through the sale of custom phone holders.

The collaborative project was a huge success, raising just over $700 in proceeds that were donated to the Wayne Community College Foundation to support student scholarships!

A special thank you to Esteban Guzman, Director of the Small Business Center, and Todd Walker, President of the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce, for attending the students’ project showcase, offering words of encouragement, and supporting their work. During the event, students also had the opportunity to present the donation check to The Foundation of Wayne Community College. We're proud of all of their hard work and commitment to supporting fellow students.

Six WCC students are headed to Los Angeles, California, as the grand-prize winners of the national Phillips Design and Machining Student Competition! πŸŽ‰

Connor Bailey, William Johnston, Roni Santiago, Alexander Lane, Joey Nakamura, and Tiffany Viera, students in WCC's Computer-Integrated Machining and Mechanical Engineering Technology programs, worked with the North Carolina Forest Service in Goldsboro to complete their project. They developed a radio-controlled machine capable of drilling into the ground and delivering fertilizer, improving efficiency in forestry and land management.

As the first-place winners, the team will take an all-expenses-paid trip to Los Angeles to tour a Haas Automation factory, visit a theme park, and explore the city.

We are so proud of our winning team and the other two student teams from WCC, who placed in the top five of the competition! πŸ‘ Our students' talents have received national recognition, and we are grateful to the Phillips Corporation for giving them this opportunity.
