Congratulations to Hunter on earning his CDL today! 🎉
Hunter’s path to the driver’s seat has taken him across the country, from overnight stocking at Goodland Walmart to maintenance work in Guymon, Oklahoma, and Avon, Colorado. Along the way he built the work ethic and experience that now point him toward a career on the road. He chose to come home to Goodland and launch his trucking career with A&G Trucking, where he starts tomorrow. In a couple of years, he plans to start a business of his own.
Hunter, we’re proud of you, and we can’t wait to see where the road takes you. Welcome to the industry, and drive safe!

I had a great time in today’s parade with Kohler and the whole Fort Hays Tech | Northwest team! Our CDL program was proud to carry the junior high volley ball players through the parade route, and it was great to celebrate with the community. A big thank you to Rob Loftin for showing up and lending a hand. Good luck to our varsity football team tonight against Colby. "GO COWBOYS!" See you at the game!

🚜🚛 From Farm Kid to Next Generation Farmer, and Now a CDL Holder! 🚛🚜
Big congratulations to Max, a first-year student in our Precision Agriculture program, who earned his Commercial Driver's License today!
Max grew up on a farm near Tipton, Kansas, and he isn't just studying agriculture; he's living it. Max recently started his own farming business and is building his operation from the ground up. Adding a CDL means he can haul his own grain, move his own equipment, and keep more control over his operation. That's the kind of hands-on thinking that makes a successful young farmer. 💪🌾
Max is a great example of something special here at Fort Hays Tech | Northwest: our students don't have to pick just one path. Whether you're in Precision Ag, Diesel Tech, Auto Tech, Electrical, Construction, Plumbing, or our Welding program, you can cross-train in CDL and leave with more skills, more options, and more earning power. Farmers need drivers. Mechanics need drivers. Contractors need drivers. A CDL opens doors in every one of those fields.

Huge milestone today! 🎉
Congratulations to Aaron on getting his CDL in Colby today! What an incredible journey these past few months have been.
Aaron started his path to the CDL with us at Fort Hays Tech | Northwest back in May 2026, and has been putting in the work ever since. He's transitioning from his position as a Rangeland Management Specialist with the USDA to pursue other great opportunities in life—whether that's the CDL, reconnecting with the federal government, or something new altogether.
But most importantly, Aaron is heading home. He's making the move to the Idaho Falls area to be closer to his roots and family around Boise, where he's originally from. While this is bittersweet for those of us here in Kansas, we couldn't be prouder to see him heading home where he belongs. He's exploring opportunities throughout the Idaho area as he settles back in.
Aaron, it's been an honor spending this time with you. Being close in age and working together these past months, I've come to consider you a friend as well as a student. Thank you for the hard work, the great attitude, and for trusting us to help you reach this goal. We wish you nothing but the best as you pursue all your endeavors. Safe travels, and welcome home!

🎉 Congratulations, Darris! 🎉

It takes real grit to earn your CDL, and we couldn't be prouder watching you cross that finish line. You showed up, you put in the work, and you passed – and at just 19, you've already accomplished what a lot of people only talk about doing.

What made it a pleasure working with you was your attitude and your willingness to learn. You brought a positive energy to every lesson, and that matters. But here's the real truth – instructors can teach the skills, we can show you the path, but the student has to put in the work to succeed. And you did that, Darris. That's all on you.

Since February, you've been building something bigger than just a license. You've been building a career, and it shows.

But here's what really impresses us – you're not stopping there. You're now enrolled in an Electrical Power Lineman program, and that's exactly the kind of strategic thinking that builds a real future. This is the path forward – combining technical certifications and skilled trades in ways that open doors and create opportunities.

This is exactly the kind of dual-track approach we're working to make accessible to our students. You're showing the way, Darris.

🎉 PROUD DAY 🚛

Huge congratulations to my oldest son Alex on earning his Commercial Driver's License today!

As both a proud father and an instructor with Fort Hays Tech | Northwest, today is extra special. Alex has been a dedicated team member at Walmart, and now he's ready to take the next step in his career by hitting the road as a professional truck driver. His hard work, determination, and commitment to getting his CDL is something our whole family is celebrating today.

Watching our students—especially my own son—succeed in the CDL program and prepare for meaningful careers in the transportation industry is what it's all about. This is just the beginning of an exciting new chapter. Alex—we're proud of you, and we can't wait to see where this career takes you. Here's to safe travels and all the success ahead! 🌟

🎓 Congratulations to our newest CDL graduate, Paul! 🚛
Paul earned his Commercial Driver's License in less than two months through our program at Fort Hays Tech | Northwest — and what a journey it's been to watch. With 28 years of dedicated service at UPS, plus experience with FedEx and the City of Goodland, Paul brought a lifetime of work ethic and reliability to this next chapter of his career.
Fun fact: we share the same name AND we both know our way around a truck — must be something about the name Paul that just says "born to drive." 😉
It was an absolute pleasure having him in the program. He's one of the kindest, hardest-working people you'll ever meet, and any company would be lucky to have him on their team.

Congratulations to Rolando on earning his CDL today in Colby!

Rolando put in the hours, kept his head down, and got it done. Test day has a way of getting to people, but he came in ready and drove like it.

He's headed back down to the Tribune area, where he works for a local farmer and runs his own general contracting business. That Class A means hauling his own equipment and materials instead of waiting on somebody else to do it — and out here, that's the difference between getting the job done and getting it done on time.

Jackson has officially earned his Class A CDL through the CDL program at Fort Hays Tech | Northwest — and he's already got a plan. He's headed into Ag Business, and he'll be putting that new license to work on the family farm.
Ag and trucking go hand in hand out here. Hauling grain, moving equipment, keeping harvest rolling — this is the kind of skill that keeps a family operation running and keeps western Kansas moving.
