Continuing with our AG Advocacy project, this week we have Soil Moisture Probes! Utilizing moisture probes with your irrigation system ensures that the crop gets the exact amount of water it needs at the exact right time it needs it! This eliminates over irrigating while simultaneously boost crop yield. Sustainable, Smart and Profitable! This week we are bringing Subsurface Drip Irrigation to the spot light! SDI systems have been critical in water conservation efforts and in crop productivity. Did you know that we have one of these systems right here at FHNW? Our Technical Farm has a 25 acre SDI system that we utilize for crop growth and our Water Management Technology course! Our second year student Calvin Evins, had an Ag Advocacy assignment to make a social media campaign to promote agriculture! Instead of doing just one, he went above and beyond to make several. So over the next few weeks, we will be showcasing his work right here on the page!

Harvest is in full swing at the FH Tech | NW Tech Farm! The students and instructors are having a blast while working hard to incorporate learning objectives. We would like to give a roaring Tiger thank you to our seed reps that have several plots at the Tech Farm this year and to our local American Implement dealer for providing us with a combine and grain cart! With their help harvest is moving right along smoothly!

Learning Objectives through harvest: Machinery Operations (Combine, tractor, grain cart, weigh wagon and semi), farm management skills (delegating tasks, managing maintenance, staying organized while busy), utilizing softwares like Climate Field View to accurately harvest the correct plots and manage data storage, Team work, and Ag safety skills.

We also want to give out one more huge shoutout to Fallon Bamford! She is one of our second year students and has be tasked with collecting all the video and photos for our social media for the semester! Without her work as a photographer our page would be pretty boring!
