Kappa Delta Phi NAS (National Affiliated Sorority) was incorporated in 1977. Kappa Delta Phi National Affiliated Sorority’s roots go back to 1971 when the first chapter was chartered at Husson College in Bangor, Maine, under the guidance of Kappa Delta Phi Fraternity. (kappadeltaphi.org)
The purpose of the sorority was to allow the spirit and principles of the Fraternity to be generated among you
ng women in the same college atmosphere. The two would share similar principles but operate separately as their own organizations. In time, the Sorority flourished and other chapters followed, springing up at colleges and universities throughout the Northeast on over 20 campuses, from the northern tip of Maine to southern Pennsylvania. The Kappa Iota chapter was established in the Spring of 1978 by 7 women under the guidance of the Iota chapter of KDP Fraternity and the sisters of Kappa Mu, Kappa Nu, and Kappa Phi chapters of KDP NAS. Since then, we've gained over 300 sisters at our chapter alone and over 3000 nationally. Our sorority is based on acts of kindness. Our National Philanthropy changes every year and is proposed and voted on by the active Chapters. Our current philanthropy is the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. We support this organization in its mission to save lives through research, education, and advocacy. As a chapter, we participate in many activities on campus such as Meet the Greeks and the Student Engagement Fair. We participate in charity walks every year including the Breast Cancer Walk, Walk to End Alzheimer's, and the Out of the Darkness walk supporting the AFSP. We also volunteer at places such as the Preble Street Resource Center, and Partners for World Health. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at [email protected]
