The results are in, and the Taylor County 4H horse judging teams had an amazing showing at the contest today! First we had the Junior Hippology portion of the contest, which saw Zadaya Bolyard placing 6th overall, Audra Murray placing 3rd, and Eden Lambert placed 2nd. Together they were the top scoring team for Junior Hippology. And then for the Horse Judging part of the contest, Zadaya Bolyard was 6th, Audra Murray was 2nd, and Eden Lambert was the 1st place individual. And together they were named the 1st place team for horse judging.
Our senior team consisted of Cheyenne Bolyard, Kaige Andrews, PJ McGinnis, and Colton Gillespie, and they only competed in the Hippology portion of the contest, as most of them were part of the team that won horse judging last year. Together they were the first place team, and will now be studying and practicing to prepare for the Hippology contest at the 2026 Eastern National 4-H Horse Expo this coming November.
Congratulations to this great group of members, we appreciate the time and effort you all have invested in this contest and way to go for representing Taylor County so well!

Best of luck to our junior and senior horse judging teams as they compete in the WV 4-H Horse Judging Competition today at the Hazel Ruby-McQuain Equine Education and Resource Center in Reedsville. These 7 members have been studying and preparing for several weeks for this contest, which consists of an Hippology portion, which was mostly completed yesterday on the WVU Evandsale campus, and then the judging and oral reasons portions which are happening today.

This morning a group of Taylor County 4-H members got up early to head to Tygart Lake State Park and spend several hours picking up trash in one of the coves. In all, 50 bags of trash, 15 tires, one truck bed liner and a propane tank was collected! We appreciate the efforts of these youth and their dedication to community service ❤️ 🍀

A total of 12 Taylor County 4‑H members participated in the Stockman’s Contest, which challenged youth to judge classes of cattle and hay, evaluate expected progeny differences (EPDs), identify meat cuts, livestock breeds, and plant species, and complete a quiz on beef industry topics.
⭐ Congratulations to our award winners:

Audra Murray placed 3rd individually in the Junior Division out of 125 contestants
The Junior Stockman’s Team earned 6th place out of 28 teams
Two Senior Division teams placed 10th and 11th out of 44 teams
Madix Mewshaw, Cole Boyles, and Dylan Garrison placed 3rd in the 1st Annual Cattle Working Contest
Kellen Lambert was selected as the WV Beef Queen and will proudly represent the WV beef industry through the 2027 WV Beef Expo

We are extremely proud of all our 4‑H members for their hard work, preparation, and sportsmanship. Thank you to families, volunteers, leaders, and supporters who help make these opportunities possible for our youth! A special thank you to Jamie Kinsey and Kinsey's Oak Front Farms for working with Madix, Cole, and Dylan to prepare them for the working contest. 🍀
