🎉 Huge congratulations for our very own Govani Del Rio from CHI Health St. Francis! 🎉

We are incredibly proud to announce that Gio was recognized by the The Grand Island Independent as one of their "Top 5 Nurses" for the 2026 Salute to Nurses Awards! 🏆

This year, the awards were personally delivered, and we were thrilled when Gio received his award right here at the hospital on Saturday evening before his shift! You can look forward to seeing full bios and photos of all five honorees, including Gio, when the "Nurse Recognition Guide" is published on May 16th.

But don't wait until then to read his amazing nomination from a peer, which truly captures why he is so deserving:

"I would like to wholeheartedly nominate Gio from PCU for a Salute to Nurses recognition. There are some nurses who do their job well, and then there are nurses like Govani. Who truly make you feel proud to be part of this profession. Govani brings a rare combination of intelligence, intuition, and genuine compassion to every patient he cares for. He has an incredible ability to sense when something isn’t quite right, often catching subtle changes before they become critical. His attention to detail is unmatched, and it’s clear that nothing is ever overlooked when he is in charge of a patient’s care. What stands out even more is his unwavering advocacy. Govani doesn’t hesitate to speak up or escalate care when it matters most because to him, his patients are never just a task, they are people who deserve the very best. Kearney: pick up from Katy Zavadil beginning tomorrow through Thursday in the faculty suite.
Columbus: pick up beginning Monday, May 4th from Brenda Eller in the Nursing Faculty Office.
