Please join us in congratulating Calvin student William Lee on receiving an Honorable Mention in the Piano Teachers’ Forum of Grand Rapids 175 Years / 88 Keys Piano Composition Contest, commemorating the 175th anniversary of the founding of the City of Grand Rapids.

William is a pianist and composer studying music composition with Dr. Forrest Wakeman and piano with Dr. Yelena Wells. His experiences within Calvin’s vibrant musical community, from gospel choir and marching band to full orchestra, have deeply shaped his creative voice, inspiring works for both solo piano and symphonic settings.

His honored composition, Snowline Above the Evergreens, reflects winter at the Calvin Ecosystem Preserve & Native Gardens. The piece musically portrays snowfall gradually softening the tree line, blending earth and sky into a single, serene snowscape.

Congratulations, William, on this well-deserved recognition!
