Dear followers,

Last year we decided to merge this page into the Common Space Arts Council page in order to reach out to you more efficiently. Unfortunately, Facebook is not cooperating, every time we try to merge the two pages we get the same error, that we have been trying to merge too many pages, which is not the case.
We would really like to connect again with you, followers of this page, especially since we will be posting information regarding kids' classes and camp. If you too want to connect with us, please follow the Common Space Arts Council page since that is the only one we are using and we will eventually delete this page to avoid confusions.
If any of you out there have very strong social media skills and can tell us how to convince Facebook to let us merge the two pages, we would be more than happy to hear your suggestions. Otherwise, please, please follow Common Space Arts Council (and invite more friends to follow us, why not! )

All information regarding camp and kids' activities and education will be published on the Common Space Arts Council page.

Thank you

"We're half the people; we should be half the Congress." - Jeannette Rankin, the first woman to serve in the US Congress

Women are vastly underrepresented in elected office in the United States, yet research has found that women not only govern differently but better than men. To learn about these differences and why having more women in politics is so important, check out our new blog post at https://www.amightygirl.com/blog?p=20384

Several Teaching Artists have incorporated the history of the fight for the right to vote, as well as the importance of voting, in their lesson plans this week.

A few Cunningham students could even be heard asking their parents if they'd been to polls yet!

These engaging picture books are a great intro to talking to students about voting this week: https://www.readbrightly.com/picture-books-about-elections-voting/

No spell necessary: Italian psychologists believe that children who identify with Harry Potter might develop greater empathy and tolerance towards others.

Young readers who identify with the Boy Who Lived may grow up to be more tolerant.

Everyone has an imagination. Art takes it a step further. Through art, children create something that, until that point, was only imagined. Thus, they create visual manifestations of abstract ideas.

How involvement in art, music and drama can improve achievement in basic learning skills.

In their tween and teenage years, girls become dramatically less self-assured—a feeling that often lasts through adulthood.

Look no further than the founders of companies such as LinkedIn, Slack and Flickr, who are among the many tech entrepreneurs with degrees in the humanities, and who credit that training for their success.

Humanistic inquiry plays a vital role in the development of better, more informed, more capable citizens.

A one-size-fits-all approach is not appropriate. To change a community’s mindset, you must work at multiple levels, have tenacity, and draw on field staff from multiple locations to test different approaches constantly. At the individual level, we aim to enroll every single out-of-school girl. At the community level, we aim to shift the whole mindset of the village towards protecting and promoting gender equality.

Results in Rajasthan exceeded the DIB’s goals, highlighting the effectiveness of their approach to both increased enrollment and learning outcomes.

Childhood is short-lived. It’s okay if kids’ drawings are, too.

Superhero? A collection of dangling rabbit foot keychains? Practical L.L. Bean? What does your school backpack and how you carry it say about you?

These bags are one of the most constant material items in a kid’s life, and they serve as both status symbols and intimate companions.
