GVSU Hospitality & Tourism Management Welcome to the official page of the GVSU Hospitality & Tourism Management Department (HTM)

The Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) offers a practical, management-oriented program that seeks to integrate theory with experience. The HTM program offers a Bachelor of Science degree with an emphasis in the following areas: Food and Beverage Management, Lodging Management, Meeting and Event Management, and Tourism Management. We also offer two options for a minor which are

Hospitality and Tourism Management and Adventure Tourism. Our program also builds upon Grand Valley's tradition of a liberal arts orientation.

HTM student Noah Prysock was invited to speak at the recent event WGVU Michigan Listens. Michiganders — people from diverse walks of life — shared what matters most to them. The speakers to reflected on a simple yet profound question: What do you value and why? They were asked to share what they value, why it matters to them, and how those values are reflected in their lives.

Dr. Charles Baker-Clark, retired professor of Hospitality and Tourism Management, died on September 11, 2025. He was 76.

Dr. Baker-Clark started as an Assistant Professor in the department in 2002, and retired as an Associate Professor in 2019. While at GVSU, Charlie served as the HTM Department Chair from 2004-2007, developed the HTM Italy Study Abroad program, and taught in Montenegro for eight months as a Fulbright Scholar.
