Our health professions programs at GVSU are seeking families with infants who can participate in educational sessions with students. These experiences help future clinicians build confidence, communication skills, and comfort working with young families.

What to expect:
• Play-based interactions
• A supportive, child‑centered environment

If you’re interested in contributing to the hands‑on education of tomorrow’s healthcare providers, we’d love to connect with you. The next infant event is Wednesday July 8, with sessions at 11 am, 1 pm, or 3 pm.

Graduate students from Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational Science and Therapy, and Clinical Dietetics participated in the three-part learning experience.

They began with online modules from each discipline, then met in person to collaborate on interprofessional activities.

Two weeks later, students reconvened for simulation-based case studies, learning to develop care plans for patients with swallowing disorders and working with standardized patients portraying individuals and caregivers.

Graduate students from three programs participated in the dysphagia labs and a costume contest to raise awareness about the condition.
