Center for Sustainability at Aquinas College The Center for Sustainability is committed to advancing sustainability at Aquinas College.

The Center is located at Aquinas College, the first institution in the United States to offer undergraduate degrees in sustainable business. In addition to collecting and disseminating information, the Center also conducts conferences and workshops, maintains an extensive list of publications on sustainability, and organizes the Campus Sustainability Initiative at Aquinas.

The Center for Sustainability team journeyed out to Wege Pond and Coldbrook Creek this week to take on Purple Loosestrife, a highly invasive wetland plant. Purple loosestrife has distinct purple flowers in the mid to late summer, with pointy leaves in pairs or rings of three. It can produce millions of tiny seeds and quickly crowd out native species, resulting in less diverse and healthy wetlands. If you want to help with invasive species removal, make sure to come on out to the Hack-a-Thon next Wednesday, September 16!

Join us on 9/16 for a ‘do what you can, when you can’ volunteer experience with the Center for Sustainability! Anyone is able to stop in and contribute to our goal of 100 volunteer hours! We will be working to remove invasive species from AQ’s campus and Wilcox park which helps protect our urban forest. Don’t forget to wear pants and close-toed shoes!

Grab a new plant buddy at the AQ Fall Houseplant Sale!

Find us at Albertus Hall on Tuesday, September 1st from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. Plants will be self-serve, while supplies last, and Venmo only.

While the leaves might start changing soon, you can add some color with greenery during these cooler, fall months. This event is organized by the Biology Department, in partnership with the Center for Sustainability.
