GRCC Alumni Samuel Wright has gone from high school dropout to 4.0 student.

Samuel started at GRCC through the Reconnect program. Through his hard work and perseverance, he’s now preparing to attend law school this fall, with a full ride scholarship.

“Don’t let your past define you,” Samuel shares, “I made a lot of mistakes as a young person and put myself in bad positions. But I am not the same person I was then, and neither are you. I bet on myself, and I’m succeeding.

This weekend our culinary study away students continued to explore Japan.

Students attended a tea ceremony and were able to try on traditional Kimonos. They learned about soba making and tasted eel prepared in different ways.

In their free time students explored the city, some visited Tokyo Disney and others opted to make their own chopsticks!

The group heads home today, safe travels Raiders!

Campus will be closed on Monday, May 25 in honor of Memorial Day.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend. It's a sacred time to remember and reflect on the cost of freedom, and to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
