Congratulations to Hope Wetherington, recipient of the 2026 George H. “Buck” Grant Award. The George H. “Buck” Grant Award is the highest student honor presented at Aiken Technical College. Wetherington was recognized on for her exceptional academic achievement, professionalism, leadership, and commitment to excellence.
“She has distinguished herself through superior performance in both the classroom and laboratory while already demonstrating the accountability, technical competence, and composure of an early career professional,” said Chad Crumbaker, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Workforce Innovation.
This month, Wetherington graduated with an Associate of Applied Science in Radiation Protection Technology. She said after graduation, her goal is to continue doing well at work and see where the future takes her. Wetherington is currently employed at Savannah River Site as a full-service employee.
“For anyone considering enrolling at Aiken Tech, I would say that if you’re willing to work hard and stay focused, the experience will pay you back for all the time and effort you invest. It can truly help make you successful in whatever career path you choose,” Wetherington said.
