The Kirtland Foundation Board had a passing of the gavel at their annual meeting May 21st. Outgoing President Sandy Woods (left) presented the gavel to incoming President Tracy Pardue-Smith (right). Foundation board members are volunteers from throughout our communities who help guide the decisions of the Kirtland Foundation. Our mission is to empower student success through scholarships and support, connecting donors with opportunities to remove financial barriers and open doors to higher education for all.

Thank you Sandy for your leadership the last 3 years and we welcome Tracy to her new role!

Instead of hitting the books for a traditional final exam, four of our advanced Welding and Fabrication students spent their final weeks at Kirtland forging a real-world solution for Michigan wildlife conservation.

These talented graduates designed and built a first-of-its-kind, specialized portable X-ray machine frame for the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians Natural Resource Department. From interpreting complex blueprints to executing precision welds, they’ve proven that Kirtland students don't just learn... they lead.

Join us in congratulating these new alumni on their technical expertise and their commitment to our community!

This Foundation Friday, we are proud to highlight the success of Kirtland Community College alumna Amairis Hart, who attended Kirtland from 2020 to 2022, and earned her Associate in Applied Science.

She is currently working toward a Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design and Media Arts through Southern New Hampshire University. In the professional arena, Amairis serves as the Assistant Manager at the Grayling Country Club.

“In my current position, I partner with the Director of Operations to ensure seamless facility operations, spearhead our social media and digital marketing efforts, and oversee the full design and management of our website.”

We are inspired by Amairis's drive and her ability to bridge the gap between creative design and operational management. Her journey showcases the strong foundation a Kirtland education provides for both immediate career entry and future academic advancement.

The Kirtland Foundation exists to help students like Amairis achieve their professional and educational goals. To learn more about our mission or to see how you can make a difference, visit: kirtland.edu/foundation

Kirtland and MSU join forces to train the next generation of Forest Technicians!

Kirtland Community College is thrilled to partner with MSU’s Institute of Agricultural Technology to bring the Forest Technology program directly to our neck of the woods to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in Michigan’s $26.5 billion forestry industry.

By combining our associate degree with MSU’s certificate, we’re providing our students with a direct, local pipeline to high-paying careers in timber management, wildland firefighting, and forest consultancy.
