Talk about pandemic career changers. At the start of 2020 Joshua Cardin was stationed in Ohio with the Coast Guard working as a yeoman. Quickly finding out that office life didn’t suit him, Joshua began searching for the path to become a firefighter in Lake County. That’s when he landed on CLC’s fire science’s program.
As of this past May Joshua has completed his training and has been selected to work at the Grayslake fire department.
“While I was in the Coast Guard, I’d take a class here or there online with other colleges. None of them hold a candle to CLC,” he said. “It’s unbelievable how far the college is looking forward and how many opportunities are available for the people of Lake County.” Thanks for the kind words, Joshua. We’re happy to count you among our alum!

We look forward to seeing everyone this fall!

As more classes return to in-person learning this fall, CLC will continue to offer various flexible course formats that will work for all students, including four new programs entirely online in accounting, human services, supply chain management and a general associate in arts degree.

In addition to these online programs, CLC created a new pharmacy technician certificate program and a new audio recording space, which will both start this fall.

The Brae Loch Golf Club banquet facility near the Grayslake campus will soon be occupied with the next generation of culinary students learning at CLC.

Lake County dignitaries joined CLC Board of Trustees Chair Dr. William M. Griffin to commemorate this partnership.

“This is such a wonderful partnership for the two entities to work together for the betterment of our student learning, and also leverages a wise use of finances for both CLC and the Forest Preserves. We look forward to opening this facility and having the Lake County community enjoy many delicious meals in our student-run restaurant which will move from our Grayslake campus to this location,” said Dr. Griffin.
