At NWTC, our Gas Utility students take on a time-honored challenge: digging a 3' x 4' x 3' deep bell hole — by hand. That's over 2,500 lbs. of material moved with just hand tools!

For the past 30 years, every graduate has completed this physical and mental test — a rite of passage that builds the endurance and resilience needed for success in the field.

🚨 The Backhoe Classes are Concluding🚨

Our Gas Utility and Electrical Power Distribution Programs kick off June 9th! 💥

Students enrolled in these programs got hands-on seat time with the very equipment they’ll be using in the field — all while focusing on safety, operation, and maintenance.

👷‍♂️ Students are ready to get to work and dig into their future!

State Trooper Behm presented for the Gas Utility, Electrical Power Distribution and Telecommunications program students this week.

Covering the responsibilities of having a CDL (commercial drivers license) along with state driving laws pertaining to CDL drivers. 🚛

Students asked great questions and finished with a walk around inspection of a typical vehicle they will be driving in their field.

In partnership with Wisconsin Public Service, we hosted the Slipstream WPS Energy Career Fair!

About 200 high school students attended the event, they learned about:

⚡️Solar energy installation challenge
⚡️Electric vehicle demonstration
⚡️Interactive solar panel and energy storage lab
⚡️Heating, ventilation and air conditioning demonstrations
⚡️Home weatherization testing using infrared cameras
⚡️Thermal imaging tests with drones
