Tasks include: "The Opera performs in repertory meaning every day one of four mainstage shows,( Oklahoma, Xeres, Porgy and Bess, and Seige of Calais) performs. The following day a different show performs. I work with professional stage hands, riggers, and carpenters to erect each incredibly complex set daily."
Career ambitions: "I am intreasted in pursuing a career in Technical Directon and Lighting Design. I hope to work in all parts of the world including Tokyo, New York, and Australia."
"Takeaways": "After the first week at Glimmerglass, what I've taken away most is how safety, speed, and efficiency can be matched perfectly. I hope to be able to bring this skill back to Green Bay in the upcoming year and implement it into our department. I am excited to see what I can get out of the next 14 weeks."
Favorite experience: "My favorite thing about working At Glimmerglass is meeting so many people from around the world at so many different stages in there career. Whether it's a renowned designer from London or a first year intern, it's wonderful to see how experience is shared and taken in from so many unique people. Being around so many people eager to learn and as well as so many people eager to teach, share, and listen to new ideas makes Glimmerglass Festival just a fantastic place to experience life."
Skills learned: "During my breif time at Glimmerglass Festival so far I have learned a number of new knots used in rigging, a boatload of terminology in all parts of theatre, and how quickly a 14 hour work day goes by when you love what you do and the place your doing it."
