BASE (Balloon Assisted Stratospheric Experiments) plans to return to the skies on June 4 around 1300 UTC. Flight will carry two BigRedBee radios under the call signs W9YJ-11 and W9YJ-14 and a MQ9 gas sensor to see if we can detect the wildfire smoke from the Canadian fires. We will lift with two 300 gram balloons filled with hydrogen. Initial ascent will be 5 m/s until reaching 15 km. Then we plan to cut away one balloon with the HAB Bounder from Loonatec. This is preparation for later flights this summer with our Geiger Counter array.

Launch will be from the roof of the Julian Science and Mathematics Center on the DePauw campus. Predicted landing around Tipton, Indiana. Surface winds should make for an exciting launch with a rookie crew.
