Time for a with Grace Myers!

Grace is a Psychology major with a Philosophy minor!

After graduation Grace plans to get her master’s degree in social work at the University of Michigan!

Grace’s favorite Kappa memory is: “The behind the scenes of recruitment each year. You end up getting to talk to and spend time with so many girls in the house that you don’t always run into. It just creates an overall sense of love and connection to the house and everyone in it.”

Grace is grateful that Kappa gave her: “I am grateful to Kappa for bringing me my best friends, the strongest support system, and a chance to grow. In my time in Kappa I have found people who I know will be in my life for years to come and who have given me a second family. The girls I met in this house have supported me through some of my hardest moments and shown me what true strength is. Kappa has given me the opportunity to meet and learn from so many people and I would not be leaving DePauw the person I am today without each of their influences.”

Grace’s advice to future Kappas: “Slow down and prioritize the moments with your friends. It is so easy to get caught up in a busy schedule and a hard class load but I promise the perfect test score is not going to be your biggest takeaway from college. You are going to look back at your four years here and remember the memories you made with the friends that you would sacrifice anything to have a little bit more time with.”

Denim Day began as a response to a court ruling that blamed a sexual assault survivor’s clothing. Today, our Kappas are wearing denim to stand against victim blaming and support survivors everywhere 🩵

Congratulations to Grace Myers for receiving this year’s Sally Sommer Flynn Award!

The Sally Sommer Flynn Award of Courage was established at the Iota Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma in honor of alumna Sally ‘77. Sally was a five-time cancer survivor who demonstrated admirable courage, optimism, and compassion throughout her battle. This award is annually presented to an Iota senior who reflect Sally’s qualities and have had a large impact on our chapter. Congratulations to Grace for leading by example and showing constant support for her sisters! 🩵

Today we celebrate 151 years of Iota sisterhood! We are forever grateful for the courage and dedication of our six founders at Monmouth College in 1870 and the legacy of our Iota Kappas from 1875 and beyond. Here’s to many more years of optimism, trailblazing, and love!
