..A WINTRY MIX EXPECTED THIS EVENING INTO EARLY SUNDAY...

A weather system will sweep through the area tonight bringing
rain and snow to much of the region. The precipitation will likely
start as rain late this afternoon or early this evening, but the
rain is expected to mix with and change to snow overnight.

The best chance for accumulating snow will be across the Northern
Plateau, Southwest Virginia, Northeast Tennessee, and the eastern
mountains. However, areas across the Southern Cumberland Plateau and Central Valley as well as portions of the Southern Valley may see light accumulations, with up to an inch of snow accumulation possible and up to 2 inches possible across some higher elevation spots.

Be alert for slick spots on roadways tonight into Sunday morning,
especially across secondary roads, bridges and overpasses.

The forecast and snowfall totals will continue to be refined, so
stay tuned for the latest forecasts. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather
Radio and other local media for further details or updates.

There has been a bear spotted on campus that was seen wandering near Niswonger Commons headed into the direction of the Pit Parking Area (Shiloh South Lot). DO NOT APPROACH ANY WILDLIFE YOU SEE ON CAMPUS. Bears routinely come down from the wilderness at this time of the year in order to find food before they hibernate. Bears can be very dangerous if they become scared or startled (it is important to note that a group of people following the bear around may threaten the bear). Usually, if you leave them alone, they will more than likely leave you alone. If you see a bear or other wildlife that could present a danger to the community, please contact campus safety at (423) 636-7318.

Respectfully,
