Three weeks after graduation and we're still celebrating! Vocal Performance grad Bec Tillman gets us rolling this week💙💛

"I graduated as a Vocal Performance major and I'm glad to say that I'll be returning to UNCG in August to start my Masters in Choral Conducting as a Grad Assistant! I studied with Dr. Wells and couldn't have been happier with how these last four years have gone. Being able to attend and graduate from my dream school has been everything, and to have the opportunity to continue my education here is a really big deal. I couldn't have asked for better professors, best friends, support system, and colleagues. A lot has changed during college, and I don't know where I'll end up after I graduate next time, but I'm really excited and honored to say that I graduated from and am continuing to go here."

Today we are excited to congratulate music educator, Autumn Paschal💛💙

“ Hi! My name is Autumn Paschal, and I am so excited to be graduating from UNCG with a Bachelors degree in Choral/General Music Education. My time at UNCG has been extremely valuable and interesting, from not being accepted into the Music Education program with my first audition while being a first generation college student, commuting roughly an hour and a half every day to campus, and having to experience what Music classes looked like on Zoom during the global pandemic! Throughout all of this, I have been extremely lucky to have a support system of my family and the Music Education faculty, who helped realize my potential and pushed me further than I ever considered possible. After graduation, I am ✨so excited✨ to announce that I will be the Music Teacher at Moss Street Elementary! I am so excited to meet my future students and to help shape and forge a love of music in the next generation!! ”

Today we congratulate MM grad, Zach Taylor💙💛

"Zach is ecstatic to join the list of UNCG School of Music graduates, and hopes to follow in the footsteps of the school’s many successful alumni! During his time at UNCG, he stayed extremely busy with a number of involvements. Zach had a role in each semester of his degree with UNCG Opera Theatre, singing the roles of Ferrando, the Witch in Hansel & Gretel, Vašek in The Bartered Bride, and Mozart in Mozart and Salieri. He’s also been a part of a number of performances outside of school, including in Kurt Weill’s Die sieben Todsünden with the Charlotte Symphony, and recently won an Encouragement Award with the North Carolina District of the Laffont Competition. Next, Zach will join Des Moines Metro Opera as an Apprentice Artist for the summer; afterwards, he’ll be staying in Greensboro to continue to take part in the growing music scene of North Carolina. Zach would like to thank everyone who’s made it possible to come this far in his journey: his mom and dad, his sister Kylie and his extended family, Dr. Bracey for his wisdom while at UNCG and Dr. Jin for the foundation he laid at Towson, Arlene Shrut for her continued guidance, and the countless teachers, mentors, and friends who’ve never stopped believing in him. This is only the beginning of a lifelong musical journey!"

We're back on this Monday to celebrate MM graduate, Alexia Della Valle💙💛

"Alexia Della Valle just received her MM in Voice Performance. She is continuing her training at the Taos Opera Institute in Taos, NM for 4 weeks in June under world-renowned singers, directors, and coaches. In the fall, she will play the role of Mildred in Louise Talma’s chamber opera “Have You Heard? Do You Know?” with Greensboro’s own concert series À la carte. Alexia currently teaches private voice and piano lessons and is also the Assistant Director for Shining Star Music Academy in Gainesville, Florida, the latter of which she does all virtually from her home in North Carolina. Alexia is so grateful to UNCG and her professors for their mentorship over the last two years, as well as her amazing boyfriend, family, and friends for their love and support."

BM in Vocal Performance grad, Kaitlin Case, is giving us more to celebrate💛💙

"Kaitlin has had a wonderful four years at UNCG, where she has enjoyed participating in the opera program, where she was most recently seen in Cosí fan tutte as Dorabella; the Honors College, from which she graduated with Disciplinary Honors; and the beautiful School of Music community. This summer, Kaitlin will be traveling to Italy to further her language studies and knowledge of the culture. Next fall she will begin auditioning for graduate school!"

Today we celebrate two-time UNCG grad, Reginald Powell💙💛

Reginald Powell is a faithful student at UNCG starting back in 2015 and obtaining his Bachelors of Music Performance - Voice in 2020, then returning in 2021 to complete his Masters of Music Performance - Voice!! Reginald has enjoyed his many years here at UNCG and loves the esteemed voice faculty for their continuous love and support, which has molded him into the fine young Baritone that he is today!!! “Without UNCG I don’t think I could have gotten this far nor have had the many opportunities that I’ve had along the way!! For that I am forever grateful!! It’s been a great journey so far and I won’t say goodbye, but farewell for now!!! ✌🏾💙”

On this beautiful Tuesday we celebrated Danielle Dorsett💛💙

Danielle Lee Dorsett graduated with a BM in Vocal Performance. She will be moving back home to The Bahamas to pursue a career in music. Danielle plans to obtain her graduate degree soon, but for now, she looks forward to utilizing the tools she's learned here at UNCG from both a performance and an administrative role. "The journey has been beautiful!", Danielle says, and she knows the best is yet to come.

We continue our celebration with Performance Major Grad, Peyton Wheeler💙💛

Peyton has played a big part in the performance life of UNCG. She has been seen in numerous roles on the UNCG Opera Theatre stage, including most recently Hansel and Dorabella. Peyton plans to stay in the area to "work and take voice lessons-- preparing for grad school auditions in the fall!"

"Shelby is graduating with a BM in Music Education. She has dreamed of being a chorus teacher since middle school, and cannot believe her dreams are finally coming true! She is so grateful for all of the wonderful professors, colleagues, mentors, and friends that have supported her throughout her time at UNCG. After graduation, Shelby plans to stay in the Greensboro area to teach choral/general music in various ways across the triad. She will continue singing at FBC Greensboro, as well as with the Bel Canto Company for their upcoming season. While leaving UNCG is bittersweet, she's so excited for the adventures ahead!"
