The North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University Police Department under the supervision of Police Chief Robert Hassell, is seeking re-accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). The North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University Police Department is scheduled for an on-site assessment as part of the re-accreditation process by verifying that the department meets professional standards. The assessment will be conducted May 11, 2026 - May 13, 2026.

CALEA’s accreditation program strives to improve the delivery of public safety services by maintaining a body of standards. The program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.

On Thursday April 30th 2026 NC A&T University Police hosted an appreciation lunch to recognize our work study students for their outstanding contributions throughout the semester. These students worked alongside our professional staff in Administration, Information Technology, and our Camera Management Systems team, providing valuable support to our daily operations.

Their efforts have been truly immeasurable, and we are sincerely grateful for their dedication and commitment. Through their work, they have played an important role in helping us maintain a safe and secure campus . thank you ..

This past Saturday, the NC A&T Public Safety Department proudly participated in the DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Initiative.
Unused prescription medications too often end up in the wrong hands, leading to dangerous and sometimes tragic outcomes. That’s why this initiative is so important.
Across the country, thousands of people cleaned out their medicine cabinets and safely turned in unused medications.
Right here on our campus, our team collected 26 pounds of unused and expired medication from the NC A&T community and surrounding areas.
We are thankful for our continued partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration in helping keep our communities safe.
💊 Reminder: A secure drug disposal cabinet is available 24/7 in the front lobby of the Public Safety Building. If you have unused medication, please dispose of it safely.

This week, the Wellness Festival at Truist Stadium was an outstanding success. It was truly inspiring to see more than 3,000 students come together to enjoy a day filled with games, activities, and meaningful opportunities to learn about improving their overall well-being.

What made the event even more impactful was the level of interaction and engagement between our students and the officers from the Department of Police and Public Safety. Our team created a welcoming space that encouraged connection, conversation, and trust—reinforcing our commitment to being visible, approachable, and supportive of the Aggie community.

A special shoutout and sincere thanks to our Public Safety work-study students and Interns along with Community Affairs Senior Officer Poole, who did an exceptional job managing our table and actively engaging with their peers. Your energy, professionalism, and dedication played a key role in making our outreach and awareness presentation at the event a success.

Events like this remind us that public safety is not just about response; it’s about relationships, presence, and partnership. We are proud to be part of a community that continues to prioritize student well-being and meaningful engagement.
