⚠️HONORS STUDENTS⚠️
Get excited because the moment is upon us for course selection, meeting with academic advisors in your major, getting registration PINs, and registering for the Spring 2023 semester!
And with this in mind, I wanted to offer a note to all Honors students about the courses that you may need to take in Spring 2023 for the Honors Program.
The requirements vary according to your status in the program. Some of you will have Honors course work or other courses you must take, while still others will have no Honors requirements for Spring 2023. Read more below:
Honors Seniors and Expected Spring 2023 Honors Graduates
For graduating seniors, in the current Fall 2022 term, you should be completing the required HON 400 course. And you should be completing some 470 thesis research credits (usually 4), devoted to advancing your thesis research and beginning thesis writing.
For spring 2023, you MUST register for the remaining 470/490 thesis credits (usually 4). The 470/490 credits in the spring term will be devoted to completing your thesis research and writing and defending and presenting your thesis.
Honors Juniors and Expected Spring 2024 Honors Graduates
For juniors expecting to complete their honors theses in the Fall 2023-Spring 2024 academic year, you MUST enroll in HON 300 in the Spring 2023 term.
In HON 300, you will develop a thesis proposal, revise your plan of study, and do some thinking about your next steps beyond Guilford. The course will thus set you up for success in HON 400 and in your honors thesis work in the Fall 2023-Spring 2024 academic year.
Honors Sophomores and Expected Spring 2025 Honors Graduates
In the Spring 2023 term, you have no required classes for the Honors Program. But, as you meet with your major advisors, please check that you are on course to do honors thesis work in your senior year.
Honors Freshman and Expected Spring 2026 Honors Graduates
For honors freshmen, in the current Fall 2022 term, you should be completing the required HON 100 course.
In the Spring 2023 term, you have no required courses for the Honors Program.
