Greetings! Next term (Winter 2023) we will be offering several classes: GEOG 105 - Introduction to Physical Geography; GEOG 106 - Introduction to World Regional Geography; GEOG 209 - The Geography of the Middle East and North Africa; plus GEOG 298 - Reading and Conference which is a term paper class (various topics). These will all be remote web courses except for a second section of GEOG 106. We hope to see you virtually this coming winter!

Do you want to learn all about the great state of Oregon? Then sign up for the online version of GEOG 206. We will explore such topics as the first Native American inhabitants, the later pioneers, our explosive geologic history, weather and climate, the state's political system, its main economic drivers, and the uniqueness of the various landscapes that are found around the state. We will also explore the history of the city of Portland and the past and present challenges that people of color have faced over the years in this part of the Pacific Northwest. So what is Physical Geography? This is covered in GEOG 105 and it is all about the natural world. We learn about weather and climate, including Climate Change; geology, including earthquakes and volcanoes; biology related to both plants and animals; and special areas of our world like oceans, deserts and the remaining ice covered areas on our planet. Greetings! Just a quick reminder that we are offering 3 classes in Geography this coming Fall Term 2021 at MHCC. They are as follows: GEOG 105 - Introduction to Physical Geography (this class covers climate & climate change: plant & animal biology; geology; climatology; and special topics related to coastal processes, glaciation and deserts); GEOG 208 - The Geography of the US and Canada; and GEOG 290 - Environmental Problems and Restoration.
