SAVE THE DATE: Smithsonian Film Series on June 22

Make plans to join us on Monday, June 22 at 12:30 pm for the second film in the Smithsonian Film Series titled, "America in Color: Coming to America" in the Harris Center Cinema (1114 10th Ave.) Joey Pagliai will share his family's story of coming to Iowa and how the experience shaped his family's business, Pagliai's Pizza. No RSVP is needed and open to all.

Grinnell College, as a Smithsonian Affiliate, is offering a public film series, which features eight more Smithsonian Channel films exploring different aspects of American life and history. Running through November 2026, the remaining films will be shown at the Strand 3 on various Monday mornings at 10 am. Each screening includes collaboration with community partners, faculty, and staff to connect the films to local experiences, Iowa history, and the broader American story. The class of 2029 was the first to be eligible for the new President’s Scholarship for Community Building. This scholarship covers full tuition and recognizes incoming Grinnellians who demonstrate intercultural understanding, empathy, cooperation, community-building, and an interest in positive change-making. While continued community engagement is not a requirement of the scholarship, these students care deeply about community and have found different ways to involve themselves right here at Grinnell.

GCMoA Outreach: Summer Kick-Off

Friday, June 5 from 10 am-noon, make plans to attend the Summer Kick-Off for Grinnell College Museum of Art and Drake Community Library summer programs. A variety of fun art and reading activities to kick off 2026 Summer Programs, which include DCL's Summer Reading Program and the GCMoA’s Summer Outreach programs, including Storytime Art in the Park. A hotdog lunch will be served by the Elks. Free and open to all. Drake Community Library is located at 930 Park St.
