🌟 Learning in ESS 290!

Students in ESS 290: Curriculum Development and the Learning Environment explored Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and how to intentionally promote SEL in physical education. 🧠❤️🏃‍♀️

Students researched SEL competencies and presented their findings to the class, connecting research to practical ways to create positive and supportive PE learning environments.

⚽ **Free Girls Soccer Clinics at Western!** ⚽

The ESS Program is excited to host two FREE Girls Soccer Clinics for girls ages 5-18!

📅 **September 7 & September 28**
⏰ **10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.**
📍 **Western Colorado University Soccer Field**

Girls of all skill levels are welcome, and no soccer experience is necessary. Participants will be grouped by age for a fun, supportive, and engaging experience.

These clinics are part of the **Gunnison Girls Soccer Initiative Research Project**, which explores how team sports can enhance girls' confidence, belonging, and overall well-being while expanding opportunities for sport participation in our community.

ESS Faculty and Students Making an Impact Around the World! 🌎⚽️

ESS faculty and students continue to demonstrate their passion and expertise in their professions.
Professor Haneshi and ESS undergraduate and incoming graduate student Natsuki Murakami recently represented ESS and Western Colorado University at the IWG Global Summit on Women and Sport in Birmingham, England.

Natsuki Murakami contributed to a presentation on the importance of mentoring in supporting emerging leaders in women’s sports, representing WomenSport International task force.

Professor Haneshi participated as a panelist in the “What Keeps You Going” session hosted by WomenSport International, where she shared her personal journey and commitment to advocating for girls and women in sports around the world.

Both Professor Haneshi and Natsuki represented ESS and Western with excellence on the global stage. We are incredibly proud of their accomplishments and their continued leadership in advancing women and girls in sport!
