Over the last few years, the Goat Management has evolved from an experimental project consisting of low percentage Boers to a primarily Purebred doe herd. Our foundation does were purchased from Cablecroft Farm, with subsequent bucks leased and purchased from various sources. Through continual improvement in the quality of our goats, the group has seen a steady increase in demand for our goats as

slaughter kids, pets, show prospects, and breeding stock. All decisions and management are done as a group, with officers elected each year to maximize the progress and efficiency of the group. Our current goal as a group is to improve the quality of our herd, by increasing percentage, improving structure and correctness and increasing the overall hardiness and feed efficiency of our goats. Thank you for your support and we welcome any inquiries about our program and our animals.

Hello Goat Family!

We write to you today to share some sad news. Due to the coronavirus outbreak, we will not be able to continue with sales this year. With the university closed and students sent home for the remainder of the year, we are unable to conduct business as usual in many aspects, similar to what you all are experiencing with work and school. Our number one priority is the safety of our amazing Hadley Farm staff, who are working tirelessly to take care of the animals while students are away. We ask for you all to think of them during this time, and we are thinking of each and every one of you! Your support of this group means the world to us. We will have kids again at this time next year, and are already itching to get back to our girls! Here is a picture of 012 Pongo, to lift your spirits in this unprecedented time. Thank you, and stay safe!

Sincerely,

UMass Boer Goat Management TA’s

Since we are in the year 2020, all of our kids have their tag numbers starting with "0". We had our fingers crossed that the "007" baby would be a boy, and we got our wish! We have been waiting for this moment for a long time, and figured that our goat community would find it as entertaining as we do. So we would like for you all to meet buckling 007, James Bond!

The UMass Boers are having a great summer at the Hadley Farm! Since school is out, our undergraduate Teaching Assistants get together once a month to keep track of the herd’s health and wellness. Here is a snippet of our day, bringing the girls back out to pasture. They will follow corn anywhere! We hope everyone is enjoying summer break as much as our ladies!
