Dear Members of the Barry Law Alumni Community,

As you may remember from your law school days, the season of 1L Appellate Oral Arguments is rapidly approaching. Barry University School of Law is seeking volunteers to judge these Oral Arguments. The Oral Argument is the culmination of the two-semester Legal Research and Writing course, and for many law students it is the first experience they will have arguing in a courtroom setting.

The 1L Oral Arguments will take place on Thursday, April 7th, Friday, April 8th, and Saturday, April 9th at Barry University School of Law. All arguments will take place in-person at Barry University School of Law on the second floor of the LAC building. To volunteer as a judge, please visit the link below and select the times that you would like to serve as a judge. Note that there are numerous slots at the same time, as numerous LRW professors will be running arguments simultaneously. Thus, be sure to select only one argument at each time.

You will receive additional information the week of the arguments, which will include a copy of the assignment, a confidential bench brief, parking information etc.

In addition, you will be able to self-report your volunteer judging service to the Florida Bar for CLE credit.

Judging our 1L Oral Arguments should be a rewarding and fun experience! It is a way to stay connected with Barry University School of Law, the alumni network, and current law students.

The Barry Law School ACS Chapter along with the Barry Law Review is hosting its 7th Annual ACS Constitutional Law Scholars Forum. For this year's virtual conference, there will be over 70 presenters from across the world and U.S. participating in this one-day conference. It is a free conference, and CLE credits are available for lawyers and paralegals.

More information is available at the conference website, which contains the conference schedule, list of speakers, speakers' bios and abstracts, and Zoom links to attend. No registration or password is needed.

Every year Barry University recognizes outstanding alumni with the Distinguished Alumni Award in various categories.
This year Barry Law alumnae Lenora Easter '07 is honored with the Social Justice Award for her outstanding work with The Bronx Defenders.
