Hilbert College Communications department The communications field is lucrative, dynamic, and exciting! Our major is designed with this diversity in mind. It's also student-centered.

The Hilbert Communications Department provides students with both the academic knowledge and practical experience to pursue a variety of careers within the ever-growing and dynamic area of communication. Communication majors go into varied professions; they work in many areas: education, public relations, research, journalism, television, film, and marketing. In our program you will learn the foun

dation common to communication studies, but you will also learn specific skills and gain advanced knowledge in target areas. You will be taught on state-of-the-art equipment, and have access to the equipment from the very beginning of your education. Our program has four concentrations: media arts, media writing, integrated marketing and communication. These concentrations allow you to focus on key areas in the field. Each concentration closes with a capstone experience in which you gain real-world experience. These capstones range from various internships to independent projects.

This week’s journalism class had a guest speaker, Mr. Melvin Bankhead, marketing and communications of and former News Editor at The Buffalo News. He actually taught journalism on our campus for 3+ years and in that time helped students realize how much we needed journalists. He came back today to continue that work, and talk about his new found interest in K-pop Demon Hunters.
