Step into the Clinical Simulation Lab ๐ฅ
At Quinnipiac, students across the Schools of Nursing and Health Sciences and the Netter School of Medicine engage in immersive simulation based learning designed to bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and real world patient care.
The simulation lab features high fidelity, anatomically accurate mannequins with interactive capabilities including heart sounds, lung sounds, bowel sounds, palpable pulses, pupil reactions, and verbal responses. These features allow students to assess and treat patients in highly realistic clinical scenarios.
Simulation experiences span the entire lifespan, from neonatal and pediatric patients to adults and maternity care. Many scenarios also incorporate standardized patients, who are trained individuals portraying real life clinical situations, to enhance communication and clinical reasoning skills. Task trainers are used to support practice of specific procedures and hands on skills.
For DPT students, simulation is integrated throughout the curriculum. Students are introduced to the hospital environment, medical equipment, and patient monitoring while developing physical examination skills, clinical decision making, and patient communication.
These experiences help students develop the knowledge, confidence, and clinical skills needed for patient care.
