Wisdom so far: "research your plants!" Chelsea advises to not throw out a "dead" houseplant until you make sure it doesn't naturally go through a dormant phase!

Lots going on as we welcome warmer weather in The Conservatory Gardens! Today was a gorgeous day today to start the All-America Selections plants! AAS Garden Winners The plants are small now, but we can’t wait to watch them grow.

In other big news, the Bogs are now uncovered (located behind The Conservatory). A big thanks to Chelsea, Lafayette, and the rest of the students who got plants started in the research room and planned out the Gardens!

Follow along on Fridays for our "Ask a Botanist" series!
Our topic of the week is: “Get to know the interns”

Meet the authors behind these posts! Our student interns have been key contributors to this project, from helping with these posts to assisting with field trips and outreach events. As the semester wraps up, we’d like to introduce you to the authors behind these posts.

Lafayette Boland: "I am entering my junior year as a Botany major, with a co-major in Environmental Science and minors in Horticulture and Political Science. In my free time, I enjoy caring for my houseplants and fish tanks, playing cozy video games, and discovering new animes. After graduation, I hope to pursue a Master’s degree and contribute to the conservation of freshwater ecosystems.
I am also a student assistant here at The Conservatory, where I primarily work in our Gardens. I’ll be working in The Gardens four to five days a week this summer, so if you stop by, please come and say hi!"

Mia Biondo: “I am an Applied Biology major and Pre-Medical co-major going into my junior year. In my free time I love gardening, playing guitar, and being outside. After graduation, I plan to work in Emergency Medicine.”

This project is funded by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency. Our two grant interns this semester, Lafayette Boland and Mia Biondo, helped prepare the answers to these questions.

While our grant officially ended yesterday, we are planning to continue this series as we receive new questions, so please submit any that you have here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdJdNqggy-GwWJ7egNlp5CAlMwxhnnlt52naLogPmLgaV9EwA/viewform
