Swim 1922 is our national call to action to save lives through water safety and swim education. In partnership with USA Swimming Foundation, Sigma Gamma Rho is breaking generational barriers and closing the racial gap in swim instruction by teaching communities—especially youth of color—that swimming is not just a sport, it’s a survival skill.

Through hands-on swim clinics, safety workshops, and drowning prevention awareness, we’re reaching families, building confidence, and making the water safer for everyone.

Join the Movement. Wear Denim. Raise Awareness.

On this Denim Day, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. continues its legacy of advocacy by using our voices to support survivors and challenge the harmful myths surrounding sexual violence.

Why Denim?The campaign began after a 1999 Italian Supreme Court ruling overturned a r**e conviction because the victim was wearing tight jeans. The justices claimed that because the jeans were so tight, the victim must have helped remove them—implying consent. The next day, women in the Italian Parliament wore jeans in protest, and a movement was born.

Since then, Denim Day has become a powerful annual tradition where people wear jeans to stand in solidarity with survivors and challenge victim-blaming attitudes.

The Nu Iota Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. was honored to host our Project Cradle Care event, bringing together support, education, and encouragement for mothers and families in our community. From care baskets and baby essentials to meaningful conversations and fellowship, the event reflected our commitment to uplifting families and promoting healthier futures. 🐝✨

We would also like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Dominique Williams, Director of the Women’s Cardiovascular Clinic at the John Ochsner Heart and Vascular Institute Center, for sharing her knowledge and passion for improving maternal outcomes and women’s heart health. Her expertise and dedication made a lasting impact on everyone in attendance. 💕

Together, we continue to embody Sisterhood, Scholarship, and Service while making a difference one family at a time.

The Nu Iota Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. was honored to celebrate the achievements of four graduating seniors from Bogalusa High School! Through our Operation Big Book Bag program, we proudly presented Diamond Peters, Tobias King, Charnise Brown, and Derrick Howard with a graduation donation in the mouth of $50 to support them as they begin their next chapter. 🎓✨

A heartfelt thank you to Bogalusa City School Superintendent Dr. Bryon Hurst for graciously accepting these awards on behalf of our scholars. We are incredibly proud of these students and look forward to all they will accomplish!
