Hello, Lions! Happy ! And welcome to the first Meet A Lion Monday of the Fall 2026 semester.

Today’s featured Lion is Roselyn Rivas from Gonzales. Roselyn is a graduate student mastering Strategic Communication and is expected to graduate in May 2028. She recently graduated from Southeastern this past May with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication with a concentration in Strategic Communication.

During her undergraduate career, Roselyn served as Social Media Editor for The Lion’s Roar, where she managed posts, created content, designed graphics, took photos, and filmed podcasts. The Lion’s Roar allowed Roselyn to apply what she was learning in her communication courses to real-life situations and collaborate with an editorial staff to help lead a student newsroom.

Roselyn also served as the Social Media Strategist for the Association of Latin American Students. She worked with fellow executive board officers to plan fun meetings, organize volunteer opportunities, help lead leadership programs, and more!

Roselyn’s accomplishments include the Jackie Dale Thomas Green “S” Award, Honor Roll, Dean’s List, President’s List, and 3rd Place for Best Feature Photo in the Louisiana Press Association Better Newspaper Competition. She will also never forget being announced as the Top Paper scorer for her capstone project within the Department of Communication and Media Studies.

Currently, Roselyn works as the graduate assistant for the Office of Student Publications and will be helping Dr. Summers with Meet A Lion Monday and Lion Up Tuesday!

Roselyn shares, “Being a Lion gave me opportunities to get involved, a safe learning environment, and great pride. I am so thankful for my time at Southeastern and for what’s to come!”
