Last week, during the Patrick Henry Society Reunion on campus, the class of 1976 was officially inducted into the Patrick Henry Society, recognizing their 50th reunion and celebrating the lifelong bonds and shared experiences that have shaped their lives. Here’s to a legacy of brotherhood, friendship, and devotion to Hampden-Sydney College.

Meet the alumni and parent engagement team!

Hampden-Sydney College welcomes Kevin Hoffer ’06 as the director of alumni and parent engagement and Mia Garrett as assistant director of alumni and parent engagement.

Returning to his alma mater, Hoffer brings experience from the University of Virginia and the USO, leading community-focused engagement initiatives. Alongside him, Garrett oversees alumni outreach, regional clubs, and athletics event engagement.

Also serving on the alumni and parent engagement team are assistant directors Linda Cheyne and Victoria Fenton ’23.

When Andrew “Hollywood” Mitakides ’07 matriculated at Hampden-Sydney, he originally had his sights set on dentistry, following in his father’s footsteps. After an encounter with Barger-Barclay Professor of Theater Shirley Kagan, everything changed. Now, Mitakides serves as CEO and co-founder, alongside his wife, Riki, of , Dayton, Ohio’s Shakespeare theater company, bringing professional theater to countless people.

Motivated by a desire to give back and create opportunities for future generations, he has funded two scholarships at Hampden-Sydney to help deserving students experience the same life-changing opportunity he once received. His generosity is a meaningful reminder of the difference alumni can make through giving back!

The RPE Toast returns in just one week, bringing alumni together across the country to celebrate and support students taking on the Rhetoric Proficiency Exam.
