Dr. Carlos Stringer Smith '03 serves as the inaugural Associate Dean for Ethics and Community Engagement and Associate Professor in the Department of Dental Public Health and Policy at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry.

Most recently, Dr. Smith was promoted to full professor with tenure, effective July 2026 and is the first Black full professor with tenure in the history of VCU School of Dentistry.

Earlier this month, alumni, partners, and supporters gathered for “Dinner and Conversation to Discuss the Growth of Hampton University” — an evening centered on vision, innovation, and impact.

From our 94% postgraduate success rate to the development of the Hampton Technology and Artificial Intelligence Center (HTAIC), Hampton continues to position itself at the forefront of student success and emerging technology.

As the 8th proton therapy center opened — and the only proton center owned by an HBCU — this facility continues to represent Hampton’s commitment to changing lives through science, research, healthcare, and service.

Our reunion tour offered a closer look into the cutting-edge technology, life-saving treatment, and world-class excellence happening right in our community. From education to innovation, Hampton continues to lead with purpose and vision.

Congratulations to John T. Rose '14! John is a member of the Fox Rothschild's Corporate, Entertainment & Sports Law, Litigation and Intellectual Property departments. He represents a variety of high-profile clients, including award-winning creatives, multiplatinum recording artists and producers and celebrity entertainers.

John provides counseling on various topics related to business disputes, litigation prevention and crisis management as well as non-litigation matters. He has high-level experience drafting, analyzing and negotiating agreements involving content and distribution, production, marketing, management, photography, licensing, concerts and other subjects.
