We are humbled and astounded at how the Lord has blessed us...and we're only eight hours in.

Through your generosity in the last eight hours, HLGU has raised 269 gifts for a total of $133,308.70. Your gifts have handily exceeded the $60,000 challenge from the HLGU Board of Visitors and more than doubled last year's total.

And we're not even halfway finished!

If you haven't given yet, please prayerfully consider HLGU on this Day of Giving. If you have given, encourage the people in your life to invest in HLGU. Every dollar given is a tangible investment in the future of quality Christian higher education in northeast Missouri.

As the University is in a state of financial exigency, Transitional President Rodney A. Harrison has denoted four specific areas as greatest needs for the University this Day of Giving:

- Immediate debt reduction
- Student aid and scholarships
- Faculty retention
- Operating expenses

"For too long, the American prison system has been off our minds as far as missions are concerned. Society has taken on the mindset of 'lock them up and throw away the key.' Yet that is not what Jesus has commanded us to do. Our program returns to the forgotten mission field to train indigenous missionaries in this context to share the gospel."

When an outside firm took a look at the financial crisis at Hannibal LaGrange University, things didn't look too good. But in a few short weeks, the university seems to be heading in the right direction. "Their original recommendation was, 'you all need to just shut down' and it was pretty dire," sa...
