Club Members,
Greetings all! It has been quite awhile since my last message to you. During that time I have tried to find ways to keep myself busy and entertained. Sometimes I did, and sometimes I didn’t. If your time has been anything like mine though, you are TIRED OF BEING IN THE HOUSE.
Sure, you get out to do a bit of grocery shopping and run into the pharmacy. Maybe there is a park or some open space your visit nearby where you can easily social distance from others who go out for some fresh air too. Or maybe you have been that front line hero out there doing those things (medicine, foods, transportation, sales, others) that the rest of us rely on as we try to make our way through these tough times. While now is no time to give up the due diligence needed to keep us safe and healthy, I wonder if there is still a way for us to share some Dartmouth time together. How about a club mini-golf championship?
What if we pick a weekend in September during which YOU AND YOUR FAMILY (or you and your alumni team) play a round of mini-golf at pre-selected dates and locations in your area. You submit your scores and use them to determine two winning teams from: 1) the southside of the James River (Norfolk, Suffolk, Virginia Beach, and others), 2) the northside of the James River (Hampton, Newport News, Yorktown), and 3) Williamsburg. The winning teams will then play a championship round during a follow-up weekend to determine the Club champions. The two teams with the lowest average per-person score wins in each case. Cost will like be in the $9 -$11 range per-person, even less for those under 10 years old.
I know, I know! It sounds like a lot. Nonetheless, its gets you out of the house to have a bit of fun, AND you get to do something with those whom you can safely hangout. The winners, of course, will get a really neat Dartmouth gift.
So, what do you think? Let me know. Your feedback will help decide if this idea moves forward or gets shoved back to the drawing board.
As you might be able to tell, I miss you all.
Waiting to hear from you,
