Dr. Megan Moran studies how bats respond to disease and environmental change, while Dr. Andrea Nord brings expertise in tropical agriculture, forest ecology, and community environmental work in Honduras. Both are passionate about connecting students with the natural world, bringing science to life through research, fieldwork, and learning beyond the classroom.

Jess Rheinheimer Bishop ’16 will be inducted into the Hall of Honor by Eastern Mennonite University Athletics during Homecoming 2026! One of the most decorated players in Royals women’s basketball history, Bishop led EMU to an 84-26 record and two ODAC championship game appearances during her four years.

She was a two-time ODAC Player of the Year, two-time D3hoops.com All-American, and 2015 Jostens Trophy winner. She finished her career with 1,567 points, the third-most in program history.

President Rev. Dr. Shannon W. Dycus joined the presidents of James Madison University, Bridgewater College, and Blue Ridge Community College - Virginia for the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce’s annual Presidential Address last week.

Dr. Dycus highlighted exciting initiatives and updates at EMU, including continued growth in the incoming first-year class and the launch of an innovative pathways curriculum designed to support enrollment growth and career development for Royals.

Last week, EMU colleagues gathered for our annual Fall Faculty and Staff Conference to kick off the 2026–27 academic year.

Centered on the theme “Power & Equity: Power is a Verb,” the conference featured plenary sessions, learning opportunities and conversations focused on reflection and connection.

Sarah Roth Shank ’10 will be inducted into the Hall of Honor by Eastern Mennonite University Athletics during Homecoming 2026 (Oct. 8-11)! A standout midfielder from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Roth Shank helped lead Royals field hockey to four consecutive ODAC championship game appearances, earned All-ODAC honors three times, and received EMU’s 2010 President’s Award.

Ryan Eshleman-Robles ’13 will be inducted into the Hall of Honor by Eastern Mennonite University Athletics during Homecoming (Oct. 8-11)! A two-time All-State and All-ODAC First Team honoree, the soccer center back appeared in 77 matches and was named the 2012 ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year. The third-generation Royal also received EMU’s 2012-13 President’s Award.
