Vision

NSMH will be nationally recognized as the premier professional organization for developing exceptional minority student talent and leadership. History

Since its founding in the spring of 1989 at Cornell University, the National Society of Minorities in Hospitality has been a non-profit student run professional organization. NSMH works in conjunction with its sponsors to establish a work

ing relationship between the hospitality industry and minority students. NSMH believes that its members are an asset to the hospitality industry. NSMH is an organization of students and professionals representing an array of social and cultural backgrounds and a wealth of unique perspectives and ideas. NSMH is proud of its diversity and believes it provides a competitive advantage in the hospitality industry. Consequently, we work to make the industry aware of the benefits that a diverse workforce provides in a business that caters to the world.

Our NSMH national conference has come to an end. Thank you Hart School, College of Business, and CMSS for making this trip possible. During this trip we had a chance to network with professionals, meet other chapters across the U.S, hear inspirational speeches from entrepreneurs like Marcus Davis, attend info sessions, and we voted for our next national board. A special thanks to Jesus Paredes (Operations Manager) from Hard Rock Cafe - Houston for the amazing hospitality. Last but certainly not least, Tony Kim. Thank you for your continuous support within our chapter. We appreciate everything you do for us. - Francy Espinal

Hi Dukes!! This is Francy coming to you live from Houston, Texas! These next 2 days I will be giving you an inside look as NSMH attends our national conference. This experience will allow our exec team to attend info sessions on inclusion and diversity in the workplace, speak to key leaders within the hospitality industry, and we will be attending a huge career fair with companies that do not normally visit JMU. We are so excited and grateful to be given this amazing opportunity that will further our professional development! Stay tuned for more stories and posts. As always, GO DUKES!! 🙌🏽🍍
