The American Heart Association recognizes CPR & AED Awareness in June. "More than 350,000 cardiac arrests occur outside of hospitals in the United States every year. Tragically, 90% are fatal. When someone’s heart stops, immediate CPR and automated external defibrillator (AED) use can double or even triple their chance of surviving."

This month take a step that could save someone you love:
âś” Learn CPR
âś” Know where an AED is
âś” Be ready to act

Help us welcome Dr. Stephanie Zeszutek as campus dean at LMU-DCOM Knoxville 👏

A board-certified OB-GYN, national leader in osteopathic medical education, and award-winning educator, Dr. Zeszutek brings outstanding experience in clinical care, teaching, and leadership to our campus.

Her leadership will help advance LMU’s mission as one of the nation’s largest educators of physicians—preparing practice-ready doctors to serve communities across the region and beyond.

LMU-DCOM is expanding how future physicians learn to care for patients. Through a new national initiative with HHS, we are strengthening nutrition education as part of a hands-on, prevention-focused medical training experience.

Nutrition intersects with nearly every dimension of patient health (e.g., chronic disease, mental health, pharmacology, socioeconomic circumstances and cultural identity). A physician who can engage patients in meaningful, grounded conversations about nutrition and diet is not simply a more effective preventive care provider; they are a more trusted one.

That is the central goal of this curriculum. Not to produce graduates who can recite macronutrient ratios, but to develop clinicians who meet patients where they are and help them change utilizing the knowledge, confidence, and sensitivity they develop in the undergraduate medical education at LMU-DCOM.

From classroom to community care 🩺
LMU-DCOM faculty member Dr. Bradley Goldstein and OMS-III student Jackelyn Phillip volunteered at the finish line of the inaugural IRONMAN® Jacksonville, providing hands-on care for athletes pushing their limits.

Working alongside an interprofessional team, they treated dehydration, fatigue and muscle cramps.

“The event was a meaningful opportunity to learn … while giving back to the community,” Goldstein said.

At LMU, we prepare future physicians through hands-on training, mentorship and a commitment to serving where it matters most.

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave people who gave their lives in service to our country.

Their sacrifice is a powerful reminder of the cost of freedom and the courage it takes to protect it. At LMU-DCOM, we are deeply grateful for those who made the ultimate sacrifice, as well as the families who carry their legacy forward.

On this Memorial Day, we reflect with gratitude, respect, and remembrance.

Lincoln Memorial University continues to build on its role as a national leader in health professions education with leadership transitions at LMU-DCOM and across its health sciences programs.

Dr. Christopher Loyke has accepted a new leadership role, while Dr. Mark Browne has been named Chief Administrative Officer for Health Sciences and Dr. Teanna Moore has been named Dean and Chief Academic Officer of LMU-DCOM.

We are grateful for Dr. Loyke’s leadership and the strong foundation he helped build for LMU-DCOM, including growth, strong student outcomes and a high-performing academic team.

As Dr. Browne and Dr. Moore step into their new roles, LMU is well positioned to accelerate that momentum by expanding programs, strengthening outcomes and continuing to prepare physicians and health professionals ready to serve communities that need them most.

They did not cut corners. They learned, adapted, and kept going when it would have been easier to stop. This ceremony recognizes physicians who put in the work and showed up even when it was hard. Graduates, this moment reflects your discipline, resolve, and commitment to the path you chose. The path ahead is demanding, but it’s yours. Congratulations!
